Discourse is a new and unique dictionary application for your iPhone and iPod Touch.

The main goal of discourse is to offer you a simple-to-use and beautiful-to-look-at english dictionary.

Features:
• Beautiful look: Discourse features a beautiful book-like interface, with great typography that makes it easy on the eyes and a pleasure to look at.

• Simple and unique interface: Just start typing and Discourse will show you results based on what you typed; press in a result and the book will slide showing the definition, example, and related words of the word you looked up. Slide the book to the right and youll be on the search screen again.

• Bookmarks: Tap the bookmark icon in a word and a ribbon will be laid down to let you know that word is bookmarked.

• History: The last few words you looked up are saved in in history so you can find them easily.

• Random word: Just shake the device and Discourse will show you a random word.

• Word of the Day: Get a different word every day. Expand your vocabulary!

*NOTE* An internet connection is required to lookup word definitions.

Pros and cons of Discourse app for iPhone and iPad

Discourse app good for

Discourse is absolutely THE best in user interface of all the dictionary apps!
The interface in design and usability of this app is stunning. Its definitely my favourite of all the dictionary apps out there.
This is probably the nicest looking app on the app store to date. I recommend it to anyone looking for a user-friendly dictionary with a beautifully crafted interface. 6 stars! Good job to Matt and Emilio!
I cant read the font. Its too small. If I could adjust the font this app would be almost exactly what Im looking for.

Some bad moments

A paid dictionary app that disappoints me at first attempt! The beautiful interface attracted me but it didnt stand up to its first search. Check the example I found there: "What need to done is to build a fiber optic networks." Mistakes like that are unacceptable in a dictionary! I want my money back!
The app look really good by unfortunately it has many bugs and can also be frustrating to use generally. The apps crashes frequently scrolling back and forth between the search and results pages. It also crashes when trying to selecting words to define. The word related crashes seem to be word specific and it will prevent certain words at all, each time you try to define it will crash. The search function is rather frustrating too. No characters besides lower case letters are accepted, and if you accidentally click an unsupported character you are faced with a bothersome pop-up that forces you to click okay before you can proceed and fix the mistake, it really ruins a potentially fluid experience. And any capitalised letter also forces this pop-up, which I would have thought it would be easier to write the app in such a way that it would just ignore any capital letters in its processing, if lower case letters are really a must. Also, since the dictionary is web based, I do not understand why there would be such a character restriction. One would think more complex multi-word searches would be easier to support because they would not need to be stored locally. Theres potential and its a great looking app, but unfortunately in its current state its not worth keeping on my phone.
No iPhone 5 support; word of the day stuck at the same word; constant crashes; TERRIBLE type correction/ word guessing. Used to be great, now no support for app. UI outdated, not consistent with iOS 6.
Beautiful design. I love this app. I just think the dictionary database is poor, which ruins the functionality of the app. Instead of helpful, pithy definitions, I find this database to be awkward for many words. Please consider using another database. If this can be changed, the app will surely be a must have for every iPhone.
I saw this on a friends phone and love the look. Three out of five words I looked up were missing. So, since the reduced the price, I bought it to encourage them to keep working on it. Their company consists of a guy in Canada and a guy in Mexico, so, perhaps if they get some omney that can add prople from America and Europe. Anyway, a good start and keep the development going.
Well, not until this app switch to use offline database, im not going to use it. Ill stick with Ninjawords for now even though it hasnt been updated for age.
